HBJC 2020 Season
by posted 07/09/2020

The NHYFSC, along with our HBJC board and other associations have been discussing the pandemic and its effect on the sports of cheer and football since March. The conference early on stated its intent to have a season for 2020, following the recommendations and rules as outlined by local and national authority. It has been a difficult and challenging course as the path is not a clear and the uncertain impact of COVID 19 in the upcoming months.

Our HBJC board had met to decide on how to proceed with our 2020 football and cheer season.  We reviewed NH Governor emergency order which provided certain guidance on clearing youth sports and allowing them to take the field.  This information can be found at https://www.governor.nh.gov/sites/g/files/ehbemt336/files/files/inline-documents/emergency-order-40-ex-d.pdf  (page 21-22)

We also reviewed the  NHIAA guidance for reopening summer sports http://www.nhiaa.org/ckfinder/userfiles/files/NHIAAReopeningSportsActivitiesSummerGuidance.pdf.  This information has many restrictions of what we can do as a cheer team and bottom line: No stunting allowed.  We took all this information as well as other considerations, such as the uncertainty of school routine, availability of indoor practices, the vague local competition scheduling, inability to travel out of state for competition (regionals) and it was clear the safety and sanity of our athletes, coaches, families, volunteers was our main priority.

At this time, cheer is holding off on the 2020 competition season as there are too many unknowns. We will continue with registrations (no fees at this time) and will look for weekly instructional clinics or practices with our coaches following the guidelines and restrictions set by the state. The coaches have set up different videos on their respective web pages and encourage you to participate.  The AYF/AYC season is to begin Aug 17, so we have time to evaluate how to keep our teams active and continue with our team bonding.

If there are any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to ask.

Corrine Beaubien, HBJC President

Robin Giaconia, HBJC Cheer Coordinator

To: NHYFSC Member Association Families

We hope that you and your families are safe and healthy as we fight COVID-19 as a community and a country.

The NHYFSC and AYF & AYC have been monitoring and following the advice of the CDC and public health authorities. It is a day to day evaluation of the state of health for the nation and NH.

To help reduce the exposure and transmission of COVID-19 (coronavirus) we are adhering to the stay in place order issued. We are working with our member associations by postponing all in-person registrations and events to help protect our families. We have been meeting with our members remotely each month to communicate the best ways to serve our families during this stay in place order.

This letter is to inform you that we have not changed our timeline and are still preparing for a regular 2020 season.  Our association members and children’s health & safety are our number 1 priority. We will closely monitor the situation and let you know if we update our schedule based on recommendations from the CDC and public health authorities.

While we are under the stay in place order families are encouraged and able to register online with their association by visiting www.nhyfsc.org/registration , select the association you want to register with from the dropdown.

Please stay tuned for future emails and visit us online at www.nhyfsc.org and on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/NHYFSC/.

On behalf of the entire New Hampshire Youth Football & Spirit Conference, be safe and stay healthy.

Best regards,

NHYFSC Board of Directors
